Bellingham Sings consists of three women's choruses, Allegra, Sarabande, and Whatcom Sound Jazz Singers. Each choir is a small, intimate group of non-professional singers who come together on a weekly basis to nourish their souls through music. You are welcome to drop in on one of our high energy rehearsals -- but contact us here to let us know that you're coming and to find out the rehearsal time and location.
Our mission is to empower adult singers and build community by:
• engaging singers in the rehearsal and performance of quality choral art literature in the classical, folk, and jazz idioms through participation in choral ensembles
• building a library of such literature as a resource for Whatcom County
• educating singers in solid vocal technique and musical artistry
• coaching individual singers when needed to enable them to reach their full potential
• hosting nationally and internationally recognized clinicians
• providing access to these experiences to those who otherwise could not afford it
Ann MacDonald is the founder and artistic director of Bellingham Sings. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Voice Performance with high honors from The Boston Conservatory of Music and her Master's Degree in Choral Conducting with highest honors from the University of Arizona under the direction of Dr. Maurice Skones. Ann has extensive experience in vocal jazz studies, singing and teaching with Grammy nominee arranger and educator Phil Mattson.
She has been active in music education since 1987 and has taught elementary through college level. For the past four years, Ann has been devoted to developing both choral and vocal music here in Bellingham, Washington. During this time, she has also been active as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician.
